Kia has officially confirmed its upcoming three-row offering’s 7-seater will be called the Carens. The all-new Kia Carens three-row SUV will make its global debut on December 16, 2021, with its launch slated for the first quarter of 2022. the carmaker has also rolled out a teaser video, giving us a hint of its exterior elements and the overall silhouette. Kia's fourth model for the Nepalese market is expected around mid-2022, according to the company. The Kia Carens is expected to share its platform with the Seltos and will feature new design elements. The Kia Carens will be powered by 1.5-liter petrol and 1.5-liter diesel engines and are expected to be offered in both manual and automatic transmissions. Kia Seltos 1.5-litre petrol engine offers 113 BHP and 144 Nm, while the 1.5-liter diesel makes 113 BHP and 250 Nm which is likely to be offered on Carens. The petrol engine will be mated with either a 6-speed manual or CVT while the diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission only.
The new Kia Carens in Nepal will offer a unique combination of features with innovative and smart technology. The new teaser video reveals an upright stance, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, plastic cladding around the wheel arches, and an electric sunroof. The car also comes with the unique design of the LED daytime running lights, tail-lamps with a triangular light guide pattern, and a light bar running the width of the tailgate. The Carens dashboard will also be equipped with a high-set touchscreen including a digital instrument cluster. The Carens dimensions is expected to be similar to the Hyundai Alcazar.
The Kia Carens is expected to be priced between NRs 35 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs in the Nepalese market. Once launched in Nepal, It will compete against the likes of Tata Safari, Mahindra Marazzo, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and the Mahindra XUV700. The Kia Carens will be manufactured at the Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh India and could cost less money than expected.
